The 3 main element are: Antivirus, Firewall and Antispyware. (See Programs Page) A virus is a malicious program that enters your system from other sources such as e-mails or files from disks, it “infects” a file and spreads via its “carrier”. Viruses generally just slow down your computer but some do considerable damage to your files and information and can also use your e-mail address to send malicious e-mails to your contacts An Antivirus program prevents a virus from entering your system by scanning files for the malicious code and if found tries to remove the code or failing that will destroy the carrier and the virus with it.
A Firewall will prevent programs from accessing the internet and sending your personal information to its source, it will also prevent another computer from trying to access you system by blocking open ports and restricting IP addresses
An Antispyware program finds malicious programs and internet cookies sent to your system and tracking your personal information and sending it to its source, an example is a key logger, this program will record what you are typing by logging keys being pressed such as card numbers and passwords and send it to the source such as the hacker who produced it, this kind of program is not and cannot be detected as a virus, a firewall can help prevent a spyware program from accessing the internet but some times the program can find gaps in the firewall and break through so it needs to be removed. |

What Internet protection do I need |

This could happen if the document sent is a large size, incorrect printer is selected, or if the port settings are not configured correctly. First thing is to check you are using the default printer and that it is online, once you are confident the correct printer is used turn off the printer, remove the power cable for 30 seconds then replace. If this fails disconnect the printer from the computer and restart the computer, this should generally do the trick, if not the printer may be on the incorrect port, check the port settings in the printer properties. If you’re unsure of this, or if this doesn’t work my remote session can help. |
